With Thanksgiving right around the corner, we talked about things we are thankful for. Here were some of the ideas that the students shared:
Thanks for...
my family
my dog
my home
my school
myself
good food
my sister
my brother
frogs
the sun
my bed
books
my friends
everybody in my life!
I hope your child shares with you, their song from this week.....Thanks!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and friends. :0)
Art in the Community
In Art class this week, we made Autumn trees to display in the community. You will soon get a notice in your child s agenda that will inform you of the location in Amhertburg where his or her art is being displayed for the month of October. It is a great opportunity to bring your family out to view it and celebrate your little artist!

Beginning numbers
In math, we are beginning to work with the numbers 0-10. It is very important that children not only count correctly and recognize and print numerals properly, but that they have a solid understanding of numbers (quantity, value, what is greater than or less than a number, that objects can be arranged differently and still be the same amount, that numbers can be broken down into smaller numbers (ie. 5 can be 2 and 3 or 4 and 1 or 2, 2 and 1 etc.) In current math education, the children investigate and explore numbers through games, apps and hands on activities with manipulatives before moving into formal addition and subtraction. Over the next few week, I will include pictures on our blog of the children engaged in a variety of number activities.

Learning to play Boomwhackers in Music class
The children are making some beautiful music with Mr. Beneteau each week in music class. They are learning tah, tee tee and rest as well as how to wait in rest position and to get ready in playing position. This teaches them skills in patience and listening as well.
I thought I would end this week with a cute photo of our pattern caterpillars!
