Our week was jam packed with learning - so we are all ready for Spring Break!
In science, we brought in toys and talked about how they worked. We discussed input and output of energy with the toys. We discovered that many toys use batteries to move, light up and make sounds.

In math, we collected data from our peers through surveys and learned to make tally charts and picture graphs.
In art, we learned how the secondary colours are made by mixing the primary colours.
In writing, we talked about verbs being action words. We also talked about using interesting words when we give instruction on how to do a task. Some students wrote about "How to set up an Aquarium" after reading "Domenic's Aquarium in a small group." Some interesting words that were used in the instructions were: settle, shipwreck, bubbles, float, pump and heater, gravel. Then, as a class, we wrote about how to make hot chocolate. Some interesting words that were used by some students were: pour, mix, creamy, sprinkle, carefully, include. To help us visualize our instructions, we first made hot chocolate together and enjoyed it as a class!
The students were really inspired to write this week. They are all excited about being able to form sentences and wanted to write sentences on the white boards. "Go ahead!" I told them and they turned into writing machines!
